The Smog Avenger^TM line of catalytic converters are part of the answer!

There are 66 walk-behind million lawnmowers, and many more riding mowers and other small-engine implements, in the United States. Unfortunately, there are a hundred or more different size and shape mufflers (see the collage of generic muffler types above). Rather than maintain an inventory of catalytic converters that match each muffler type, we currently have:

a small selection of standard catalytic converts, and

the ability to customize catalytic converters at the time of purchase to fit into the space previously occupied by your current muffler.

Cylindrical mufflers that screw into the exhaust port of your small-engine can be replaced by this series of Smog Avenger^TM catalytic converters. Note that on engines produced in the United States, standard thread sizes are 1/2" and 3/4" pipe threads. To verify your thread size, we suggest visiting your local hardware store and verify your thread size with steel pipe fittings.
Note that some small engines have two mounting holes in addition to a threaded port. It is your choice whether to replace your existing muffler with a style of catalytic converter with a similar shape, or to purchase a standard cylindrical Smog Avenger^TM model.

For all other types of mufflers, we have devised a sales model that is designed to get you an appropriate custom-made catalytic converter the first time. Though it requires an extra step or two in the purchasing process, and some extra shipping, you maintain the continued use of your lawnmower (or other small-engine implement) while avoiding expensive mistakes.
